Last week we were given a 'show and tell' by Judy from the Swansea branch who has connections with Albania. She brought a beautiful jacket which traditionally the women would be married and buried in. She also brought a piece of Albanian crochet and a hand knitted blanket.
Next week we will be looking at sketchbooks

Dying with Rust and Hammered Leaves
On Friday we had a workshop with Ruth Norbury on 'Dying with Rust' and 'Hammered Leaves'. Ruth showed us how we could colour fabric by soaking it in vinegar and wrapping the fabric around pieces of rust. It takes a few days to dry and stain properly, so we are looking forward to seeing the results next week. This demonstration was only short so Ruth also showed us how to colour fabric by sandwiching a leaf between two pieces of fabric and hammering the fabric until the colour came out of the leaf.
Next week Alison Moger will be coming to talk to us about the embroideries we are doing for a hospital opening in Swansea. We were planning to have Shirley talk about the smocking machine, but we will have to delay that 'show and tell' for a few weeks
